Glass-Gard is designed to support performance-critical glazing systems where glass must do more than provide visibility. When combined with glass and PVB through standard lamination processes, Glass-Gard helps increase the overall strength of the final glass construction while adding an interior protective layer.
Glass-Gard's PVB layer helps reduce the risk of dangerous glass fragments during impact events, including forced entry attempts, ballistic threats, severe weather, vandalism, debris, accidents, or collisions. Glass-Gard can be used with monolithic or laminated glass systems to add strength, improve safety performance, and support long-term durability in demanding environments.
Madico offers Glass-Gard anti-spall laminates and interlayers in 7 mil and 15 mil options to support different performance needs. The 7 mil option is designed for typical safety and anti-spall applications, while the 15 mil option provides added strength and performance for higher-risk applications.
Glass-Gard is designed for ease of fabrication and can be integrated into standard lamination processes using typical autoclave or lamination oven equipment. It can be used with any brand PVB, giving OEM glass fabricators flexibility when selecting materials and building glass constructions.

In bullet-resistant glass systems, Glass-Gard can be used as part of a multi-layer protective construction to help improve overall glass strength and reduce spall formation. When the glass is impacted, the anti-spall layer helps contain fragmentation and minimize the risk of glass shards dispersing toward occupants.
Glass-Gard provides an additional protective layer within the glazing system, helping support ballistic performance while allowing fabricators to build stronger, more efficient laminated glass constructions.
Glass-Gard helps strengthen windows and glass doors against unauthorized entry attempts. When subjected to forceful impacts, such as attempted break-ins or vandalism, the anti-spall layer helps hold the glass together and reduce dangerous fragmentation.
By helping contain broken glass and support impact resistance, Glass-Gard contributes to safer, more secure spaces for commercial buildings, government facilities, schools, storefronts, and other vulnerable locations.
Storm-resistant glazing requires materials that can help withstand severe weather, flying debris, and high-impact conditions. Glass-Gard adds a protective layer that helps hold glass together during impact events, reducing the risk of dangerous shards dispersing into occupied spaces.
For buildings in hurricane-prone or high-risk weather regions, Glass-Gard can support both structural protection and occupant safety while maintaining the transparency and visibility expected from protective glazing systems.
Glass-Gard can help improve safety in public transportation vehicles, including buses, trains, and other transit applications. In the event of impact, accident, vandalism, or flying debris, the anti-spall layer helps contain glass fragments and reduce the risk of injury to passengers. For transportation authorities and vehicle manufacturers, Glass-Gard offers an added layer of protection that supports passenger safety, vehicle durability, and confidence in demanding public-use environments.
In automotive glazing systems, Glass-Gard can help enhance passenger protection by adding strength and durability to laminated glass. During accidents, collisions, rollovers, or impact events, the anti-spall layer helps hold the glass together and reduce the likelihood of hazardous glass fragments entering the vehicle interior.
Glass-Gard can support windshield, side window, and large sunroof applications where additional safety performance and impact resistance are important.
Architectural glazing with Glass-Gard can help improve building safety while preserving transparency, natural light, and design flexibility. It can be used in commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, government buildings, residential spaces, and other applications where additional glass strength and protection are required. Beyond safety performance, Glass-Gard also supports decorative and design-driven applications. Glass-Gard interlayers can be printed on directly, allowing for colors, patterns, gradients, branding, privacy effects, and other custom architectural glass designs.
