Highlights in the article

Architectural Enclosure Material

ViewScape

A transparent composite for long-span stadium, airport, and venue roofs, developed with Walter P. Moore as an alternative to ETFE. It carries its solar control in the material rather than a printed frit pattern, so the view through it stays clear.

  • Designed to be four times stronger than traditional ETFE
  • Longer spans with no reinforcing cables and fewer secondary supports
  • Visible light transmission tuned from 5% to 60% during manufacturing

安全・セキュリティフィルム

SafetyShield G2

Madico's flagship safety and security film, launched September 2025. Tested to ANSI Z97.1, ASTM F1642, ASTM F3561, and EN 356, with a 10 to 12 pound peel strength that keeps broken glass on the film instead of in the room.

  • 10 to 12 lb peel strength keeps broken glass bonded to the film
  • Tested to ANSI Z97.1, ASTM F1642, ASTM F3561, and EN 356
  • Installers trained in Tampa before they specify or install it

Windshild Protection Film

クリアプレックス

The exterior windshield protection film Madico acquired in 2016. Next up is ClearPlex NC, a nano-ceramic version that adds solar control to the same film.

  • Applied to the outside of the glass, protecting against chips and pitting
  • Optically clear, so it doesn’t change the view from the driver’s seat
  • ClearPlex NC adds solar control to the same film, a first for exterior windshield applications

OEM Films

スペシャリティ・ソリューション

Contract coating, laminating, custom metallizing, and converting for aerospace, defense, glass, transportation, healthcare, and building materials customers who need a film that doesn't exist yet.

  • Contract coating, laminating, custom metallizing, and converting
  • Serves aerospace, defense, glass, transportation, healthcare, and building materials
  • Roll-to-roll vacuum coating through VDI, part of Madico since 2016

Behind the headline

Made in Tampa Bay, installed everywhere

Madico moved into its 250,000 square foot Tampa Bay plant in 2020 and has been adding capacity since. Everything in the window film line is made there, and the same floor runs the custom coating and metallizing work for Specialty Solutions customers.

Making the film is half of it. The SafetyShield Premier Partner program has been training installers for more than 25 years, bringing them to Tampa for two days of hands-on work before they can specify and install the product. This year that training went international, with a SafetyShield event in Istanbul for partners from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.
