What is the EWFA?

Madico is a charter member of the EWFA, European Window Film Association, which was established nearly 20 years ago in Brussels, Belgium.  The EWFA, a chapter of the International Window Film Association, creates consumer and regulatory awareness of the window film industry with the 28 member states of the European Union.

Window Film Regulation

An important function of EWFA is to alert members toward favorable and unfavorable regulatory activity.  Jim Ford, International Sales Manager, represented Madico as a manufacturer board member at this year’s membership assembly in Munich, Germany consisting of numerous window film distributors and other manufacturers.

Reversing Illegal Tint Laws

Madico’s participation in the EWFA during 2019 resulted in reversing laws and edicts in Albania, Serbia, and Portugal that had either made automotive window film illegal or extremely difficult for consumers to buy.

Unified Product Ratings

Additionally, the EWFA is working with the European Commission to create a unified product rating system that enables government and industry recognition of window film as an energy management solution.  With this recognition in the form of a “CE” mark or stamp, European designers would be able to help building owners receive tax credits by installing window film on their projects.
