Implementing New Business Practices to Combat COVID-19

The COVID-19 global pandemic has certainly impacted how we all conduct business. A once simple visit to a prospect’s home to provide an estimate now poses an array of challenges. Scheduling a solar control film installation now involves making sure your team is aware of new safety protocols that must be followed.

We have compiled a few tips to help you navigate this “new normal” way of doing business and interacting with customers.

  1. Scheduling an Estimate or Installation

Assure the customer that all employees that enter the home are healthy and that routine health screenings are conducted. On the flip side, it is also okay to ask whether anyone in the household has been recently diagnosed with COVID-19.

2. Advance Planning

Prior to the visit, call the customer and discuss all job details over the phone. This will limit the amount of time you need to spend with the customer upon arrival. If possible, have the customer pay in advance over the phone or provide a phone number for the customer to call to make the payment at the conclusion of the installation.

3. Personal Protective Equipment

Regardless of local mandates, wear a mask when working on a customer’s property. Consider the use of shoe coverings as an added precaution. Keep your hands clean by bringing along hand sanitizer.

4. Practice Social Distancing

Request that the workspace be cleared of personal items, people, and pets. This provides a safer workspace for you and maintains proper social distancing of at least 6 ft from the customer.

5. Sanitize Tools and Supplies

Upon completion of the job, wipe down all tools and equipment with sanitizing wipes or spray.
